ELEUTHERA, Bahamas —The 4th Annual All That Jazz Festival on Eleuthera Island in the Bahamas is an annual fund-raiser for the local Haynes Library. Supporting creative thinking and problem solving through its many programs, the Haynes Library values its responsibility to the wider community and holds a special place in the life of the island. Just as the library works to continually raise the bar of education and technology access, after three years of simple lighting, this year’s festival looked to increase the lighting production values for its Saturday night jazz sessions at the Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve, which is located in the settlement of Governor's Harbour. Ferri Lighting Design and Associates (FLDA) brought in lighting equipment from off-island to realize LD Bruce Ferri’s design in the Preserve’s outdoor pavilion.

Ferri Lighting Design & Associates recently designed and installed the lighting on ESPN’s new NFL studio in Digital Center 2.
Set in a new 9,000 square foot space on the ESPN Bristol, Connecticut campus, the ESPN NFL set is an all-LED lighting installation, part of ESPN’s first LED studio deployment.
“We saw the ESPN NFL studio as part of the overall ESPN studio redesign, but it was really a jewel-box installation that has its own specific environment, and we had to light it with this in mind. The all-LED lighting is power-efficient, and achieves the look that ESPN wanted for this new studio,” said Bruce Ferri. “We think that the ESPN NFL lighting complements the on-air talent, and captures the brand essence of the network in an ideal way.”
FLDA designed and installed the lighting for the new flagship ESPN ‘SportsCenter’ studio, and simultaneously lit the new ‘SportsCenter’ studio in Los Angeles earlier this year. FLDA also utilized ESPN’s Sky Deck, a suspension grid system that flies above the studio set, allowing the majority of the lights to be accessed without lifts or ladders.

Ferri Lighting Design & Associates (FLDA) recently completed the lighting design and installation on “Olbermann,” which broadcasts from Times Square in New York City.
“The ESPN look is very familiar to us, and the talk show format needs to conform to this, as a complement to the talent, which in this case happens to be one of the more visible names in the industry,” said Bruce Ferri, senior lighting designer for FLDA. “We are very pleased to have designed the lighting for ‘Olbermann’ and we look forward to further work with the ESPN family.”
FLDA has worked regularly for ESPN over the years, and recently concluded the 2013 U.S. Open telecasts for ESPN last month, which included the industry’s first 100% outdoor LED lighting set.
This year marked the fifth U.S. Open that FLDA has collaborated on with ESPN. FLDA’s other work for ESPN includes lighting designs for ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut; ESPN U; ESPN NBA LA; ESPN Pit Studio, and the shows ‘Numbers Don’t Lie’ and ‘Blitz.’
